Reviewers frequently highlight the attentive and friendly service as a standout feature. The menu, centered around traditional British fare such as fish & chips and steak pie, is noted for generous portions and satisfying, well-prepared dishes. While the food is generally described as solid and comforting rather than exceptional, many appreciate the genuine flavors and classic offerings. The venue’s cozy interior, along with sidewalk patio seating, adds to its appeal as a relaxed spot for a meal or a post-event bite.
A Perfect Post-Cinema Stop in Santa Monica! Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ After catching a great film screening of "THE GARDENER" down the street at the Laemmle Monica, Kristina and I (Gordon) were looking for a cozy spot to grab a late bite. We walked into Ye Olde King's Head around 9 PM, and it was exactly what we needed to cap off the night. The Service The absolute highlight of our visit was the service. We were taken care of by Amanda and Caroline, two lovely waitresses from England. They brought so much authentic charm, warmth, and top-tier banter to the table, making us feel completely at home the second we sat down. The Food & Drinks * The Pub Burger & Fries: We both ordered the pub burger, and it hit the absolute spot. Juicy, perfectly cooked, and served with a generous portion of hot, crispy fries. * The Drinks: You can't beat their drink specials! We grabbed a couple of their $10 Cosmos, which were mixed to perfection and a total steal for a late-night drink in Santa Monica. If you are catching a movie at the Laemmle or just wandering around Santa Monica in the evening, do yourself a favor and stop in here. Make sure to ask for Amanda or Caroline!
We were wandering along the coastline in Santa Monica and looked for an eatery nearby. Kings Head was open, and we hadn’t had fish & chips in a while, so walked over. Very pleasant place - pub atmosphere inside and some sidewalk patio seating. We were promptly seated, and our server was attentive. We ordered the side salad and two piece fish & chips to share. If you’re not a big eater, it would be easy to share the two piece. The pieces are (seriously) the size of small burritos, and you get a pile of fries. The salad was mid-sized and nice. The photo posted gives you a pretty good idea of portion sizes. I would definitely recommend this place - and will keep it in mind when we’re in the area!
This place is mad cool. I wish I remembered my waitress’ name but she was a sweetheart and very attentive. This is the closest to British food I’m going to get until I visit. I was open to anything, and under the guidance of my waitress, I had a fantastic meal. If you’re someone who’s dieting… brace yourself. There’s decent sized portions and loaded with all the carbs, gluten, salt, and sugar you would ever want/need in a meal. Didn’t have room for dessert but I did have it for two cocktails. Both were A+s. I’m gonna check this place out again when I’m back in Santa Monica.
Visited Ye Olde King’s Head last night with my family. The place has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with classic British pub vibes that make it a cozy spot for a casual dinner. The food was decent but not exceptional—nothing particularly stood out, but everything was well-prepared and satisfying. It’s a solid choice if you’re looking for traditional British fare in a laid-back setting. The service was friendly, and the ambiance made for a nice, relaxed evening. If you’re in the area and craving a British pub experience, it’s worth a visit!
We've been looking for a good fish & chip place & I have to say, this is probably the best in L.A. so far. My wife made a list of places she has found and most were disappointing. The fish here was well fried, not too greasy and the batter kept its crisp all the way through. The steak pie was delicious and you get quite a hefty serving of peas, corn & mash. The vegetarian sausage rolls and potato samosas were delicious as well. Definitely, want to try the pub side next time to see how it compares to the restaurant side. The shop is delightful.
A taste of Britain in the heart of Santa Monica! Whether you're craving a classic English breakfast or a full meal, this place has you covered. You can dine in their cozy restaurant or enjoy a pint of your favorite beer at the adjoining bar. The authentic British decor and lively atmosphere make it a fantastic spot to enjoy with family and friends. The only thing missing is a bit of rain to make it feel like you're truly across the pond!
Always a wonderful time at the Kings Head. Pasty and chips and a pint of Strongbow served by the lovely Caroline. What more could you want? The Christmas decorations were up and the place is so pretty around the holidays.
Great place for a lovely British tea!!! We had a delicious selection of mini crust less sandwiches, mini quiche, a scone with clotted cream and jam, a sponge, and an eclair for each of us. I got the vegetarian tea selection, which is ovolacto vegetarian and perfect. It was just what we wanted for a reasonable price (compare it to the price for similar in other places in Los Angeles if you think it's high - it's really not). Great service. Fun decor.
